Description

This
pinback lapel pin (or badge) is a souvenir of the 1925 celebration of the centennial of Akron, Ohio.  The very attractive design consists of two portions - a lower one depicting the early years (including a farmer plowing with a horse and a boat on the Ohio and Erie Canal) and an upper portion depicting a modern (1925!) city scene.  The design also includes the words
AKRON CENTENNIAL
and the dates 1825 and 1925.  The name of the manufacturer (The Excelsior Stamp Works Co., Akron) is on the back, where there is an attachment pin.
This item has a detailed, high-relief (three-dimensional), very attractive design.
This item measures approximately 26 x 37 mm (1 x 1-7/16") in diameter, and the composition appears to be solid brass
.
This item is in very fine condition, with no apparent actual wear, with very light signs of handling, some toning, and very limited soiling.  The face of this pin remains a very bright brass color, and there is some discoloration on the rear.
The attachment pin remains very strong
.
The illustrations in this listing are photos of the actual item being offered for sale, serving as part of the description.  NOTE:  The actual item is much lighter in color, much brighter, and much more attractive than is evident in the photos.
