Antique Embossed Ross’s Belfast Round Bottom Ballast Light Green Bottle.
Up for bid is an original antique pre-owned Embossed Ross’s Belfast Round Bottom Ballast Light Green Bottle Applied Top. Found at an estate sale of a bottle collector. A nice old bottle with some bubbling. This is a nice historic ballast bottle embossed Ross’s on one side and Belfast (Ireland) on the other side. It is made of heavy glass. It’s a mold-blown bottle with a seam up both sides and applied top. The round bottom is unmarked. Circa the late 1800s. Measures about 9 ½ inches long and has a light film inside. No breaks, cracks or chips. The rounded bottom was to ensure that the bottle was left on its side so that the down cork would not dry out and shrink allowing the contents to lose carbonation and/or evaporate. Rounded base bottles were made of thick heavy glass and used for carbonated soda, mineral water or ginger ale. Please see pictures for more condition details or e-mail with any questions.
