    Antique English Imari Slop / Waste Bowl CMS & P Hanley "GEM" Pattern Cobalt Tea Service Item
    Description:  Beautifully hand-decorated in Imari style, this bowl was used in an 1800's tea service for discarding or pouring out the remaining cold tea in a cup before pouring another.  Thus, the name slop or waste bowl.
    Also known as Charles Meigh & Son, the firm manufactured earthenware at Old Hall Pottery, Hanley, Staffordshire, England.
    When trading as Charles Meigh, Son & Pankhurst, these initials were incorporated in marks c. 1850-51.
    Measurements:  Top rim 6 1/2" diameter  x 3 1/4" high
    Marked:  "CMS & P"  "Gem" "2511" and another reddish unknown mark
    Condition:  Significent crazing, stains; no chips or cracks
