  • Restocking Fee: No
  • Featured Refinements: Antique Soda Bottle
  • Condition: This bottle is in great pre-owned antique condition with no signs of damage or excessive wear. GREAT condition...fairly clean, not a lot of pits or chips around the edges, etc. There might be a few very small pits or pin head chips around edges that are visible under jeweler's loupe, but nothing visible to the naked eye and there is very slight amount of case wear in the form of a little scuff mark about mid-way up the bottle on one side. Due to age, obviously, you should expect very minor chips, air bubbles, some interior residue (although is pretty clean), less than uniform bottle shape, and other small imperfections. However, this is a very, very nice condition antique bottle that has been well protected through the decades. NOTE: Due to difference in color monitor settings, the actual color may vary from pictures. Color is light green in a warmer green tint (like the combination of green and amber.

    Description

This is a GREAT pre-owned antique condition codd-style bottle with a black marble stopper.  The bottle is embossed with the word DECO on one side and then base embossing
    on the bottom is
    V , 96 , 17 , 427457 and the mark of a capital K inside of a capital G (so that the G wraps around the K).  Approximately measures
8.25" tall x 2.5" wide in diameter across the bottom base.  The top width is about 1" wide in diameter with an
    opening .625".
Collar is a little over 1.125" tall.
The glass is a heavy glass appropriate to the original purpose of the bottle, weighing in a little over 1 lb 5 oz.  The presence of air bubbles and two side seams support that glass was BIM or blown in mold.  The bottom, which has a glass thickness of about .75" is a molded base but cannot tell definitively if there was a iron pontil or perhaps sand pontil used.  I tried to take good pictures so that you could decide.  The rim of the base does have a slightly rough texture and there is also what looks like could be some residual on the outside edge of the embossed inner circle.
The finish is a tapered style with a thin transfer bead and neck ring.  The gasket that initially held the marble is still present.  This bottle is definitely very vintage and we believe is antique, possibly dating to the end of the 1800s or into the first part of the 1900s.  We could not locate the makers mark or style of bottle anywhere and so could not rely upon dates of company operation or additional information from other collectors.  We present as vintage and believed to be antique dating.
