Description
General - American Pre-Civil War, 1850s Edward Duffy & Son Slug Plate Porter, out Philadelphia, PA. Hand blown, hand applied double tapered finish, and a deeply indented, clearly identifiable, iron pontil base with a generous amount of pontil rod residue noted. Bottling establishment address embossed on front of bottle and Glassmakers mark embossed on back of bottle. Edward Duffy & Son were listed in the 1852 McElroys Philadelphia City Directory as follows "DUFFY EDWD & SON, BOTTLERS, 44 FILBERT". BIMALEmbossing - Front, "E. DUFFY & SON-44 FILBERT ST. Back, "DYOTTVILLE GLASSWORKS-PHILADA.".
Glassworks - Dyottville Glasssworks, (1833-1888) Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Located on the banks of the Aramingo Canal and Beach St., Kensington.

Size - 6-3/4" Tall and 3" at the base. Fat, heavy early 1850s Porter style weighing in at 1 pound and 2.2 ounce.
