An Exquisite AMERICAN FOSTORIA PITCHER, Clear Crystal Glass in the 1887 EAGLE & TORCH COIN pattern,
circa 1958-1981 from Moundsville, West Virginia, USA
DESCRIPTION:
This is the beautiful pitcher with the pinched spout to from an open ice bridge.  The color is clear crystal with the 1887 eagle & torch coin pattern.
CONDITION:
The condition of this pitcher is superb.  We can find no defects or damage.  There are no chips, nicks, cracks, hairlines, or rubbings.  There are a few very minor short scratches on the glass on the inside and I see at least three very small air bubbles trapped in the glass.   (See the photos to judge for yourself.)
DIMENSIONS:
The pitcher  has a height of 6 1/2" and is 7 1/2" handle to spout.  The diameter across the top is 4 3/4".
HISTORY/MARKS:
Fostoria Glass Company operated from 1887-1986 in Moundsville, West Virginia having moved from Fostoria, Ohio in 1891.  The company operated successfully and by the 1950's was producing over 8 million pieces of glass per year and employing almost 1000 people.  By 1982, rising production costs, foreign competition, and an aging plant forced Fostoria to cease manufacturing pressed glass which led to their purchace by Lancaster Colony Corporation and the eventual closing of the Moundsville factory in 1986.  The 1887 Eagle & Torch Coin pattern was produced in the 1958-1981 time period.
