    Description

ANDO HIROSHIGE (aka UTAGAWA HIROSHIGE) ANTIQUE JAPANESE WOOD BLOCK PRINT:
"DRIVING RAIN AT SHONO"  FROM THE SERIES: FIFTY-THREE STATIONS OF THE TOKKAIDO ROAD.
LOOKING AT OTHER EXAMPLES, THIS LOOKS LIKE A GENUINE ANTIQUE PRINT THAT DATES FROM THE LATE 19th CENTURY to the EARLY 20th CENTURY.
    MEASURES:  10 3/8 x 15 3/8" (PAPER SIZE),  10 x 14 1/4" (IMAGE SIZE).
THERE IS OVERALL PAPER TONING AND AN ACID BURN LINE WHERE THE OLD MATTING EDGE WAS POSITIONED.
THIS ACID BURN CAN BE REMOVED BY A PAPER CONSERVATOR.  COLORS ARE VERY GOOD.  THERE IS A SMALL TEAR AT THE TOP EDGE - ABOUT 4 1/2" IN FROM THE UPPER LEFT CORNER.  IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED USING A MUSEUM GRADE ACID FREE TAPE.
SELLING THIS WITH NO RESERVE - GOOD LUCK.
