Description
Rare Prince GenjiTriptych, c. 1847-1852.
Utagawa Kuniyoshi, (Japanese, 1797-1861), was one of the greatest of the
ukiyo-e
artists. He was active in the
Edo Period
during the final years of the Tokugawa shogunate. His work was diverse and covered a broad range of subjects.
Marvelous scene of 2 upper class women enjoying peaceful boat ride while Prince Genji watches from a nearby deck on the left overlooking the pond. The boat is poled by attendants dressed in colorful costumes.
Would be lovely displayed in your home or office.
