  • Condition: THIS MEDIUM BLUISH GREEN GLASS BOTTLE IS IN OVERALL GOOD CONDITION FOR AGE, NO CHIPS, CRACKS OR BRUISES. THE INSIDE OF GLASS IS MOSTLY CLEAN AND CLEAR WITH SOME AREAS OF PATCHY HAZE. OUTSIDE OF GLASS IS ALSO MOSTLY CLEAN AND CLEAR, BUT DOES HAVE SOME AREAS OF DULLNESS. GLASS CLARITY IS GOOD. GLASS DOES HAVE SOME MODERATE/HEAVY SCRATCHING AND DISTRIBUTION WEAR IN AREAS, INCLUDING A SCUFF MARK UNDER THE H IN KOHL. BASE HAS MODERATE/HEAVY SHELF WEAR. THE HAND APPLIED DOUBLE TAPER TOP IS IN FINE CONDITION, WITH CRUDE HEAVY GLASS DRIP, TOOLING MARKS, AND SOME VERY LIGHT SCRATCHES NOTED. EMBOSSING IS EXCELLENT AND BOLD. A STRONG STRIKE WITH CRISP AND SHARP MOLD LINES, BUT SOME HIGH POINT WEAR IS NOTED. ALL ORIGINAL GLASS AS IT CAME FROM THE GLASSWORKS. NO TUMBLING, ALTERATIONS OR REPAIRS.

    Description

    General - American Pre-Civil War, 1850s G. A. Kohl Porter, out of Lambertville, N.J.. Hand blown, hand applied double tapered finish, and  a deeply indented, clearly identifiable, iron pontil base with a light amount of pontil rod residue noted.  BIMAL
    Embossing - "G. A. KOHL",  in arch form, then "LAMBERTVILLE N.J.", in two straight lines. Back embossed with a large solid block letter "K".
    Glassworks - Unknown
    Color - Medium Bluish Green
    Size -  7-1/4" Tall and 3" at the base. Fat, heavy mid 1850s Porter style weighing in at 1 pound and 1 ounce.
    Circa - Approx. 1855.
    Age - Approx. 165 years old.
