Description
Hutch bottles were very common in a period from 1879-1912. With this process, the bottle was made and then the top was placed on. The crown top was first used around the turn of the century, and it provided a better seal. This beautiful Hutchinson bottle is from "The Cleveland Consolidated Bottling Co. of Cleveland, O.".
The face also has the slug plate of the company stamp. This same plate is on the bottom of this bottle. The bottle is 6 3/4" tall.
This bottle is in very good shape, and is fairly clear for its age. With its primitive manufacturing methods, you can see the beautiful imperfections of internal fissures, bubbles and uneven bottom. There are no chips or no chips or cracks in the bottle. The bottle top was placed on top before the bottom was totally cooled. Thus the seam does not go to the top of the bottle.
