are selzer bottle in heavy white porcelain "APPAREIL LHOTE" which is an ancestor of the seltzer glass bottles of soda water. This bottle is in good condition with a long but light crack on the side (see the picture) and another one on the bottom. These cracks do not compromise in any way the integrity of the piece, they are rather cosmetical issues only. It is entirely in white porcelain (certainely Paris porcelain). The trademark is showed under the foot (see the picture). The two plugs/stoppers are in great condition. Nineteenth century porcelain made in PARIS - The inside is separated in two compartments by a tight vertical partition. It has two round openings at the top each communicate with a watertight compartment. It was introduced into one, an aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate and in the other, an aqueous solution of tartaric acid. Two adjoining side nozzles are used to pay the two solutions simultaneously occur by reaction of carbonic acid with evolution of gas for artificial carbonated water called "SELTZ WATER". From the 1900s, such apparatus have been replaced by the seltzer bottles in glass widely distributed by manufacturers of various soft drinks and sodas. All these types of apparatus producing carbonated water were medically used to treat diseases of the throat - The seltzer bottles in porcelain were made from 1850s to the 1900s and pharmacists were responsible for distributing and make filling.
