    Description

    From Serbia to Crete
This 12th Army Balkan Campaign photo book is dedicated to the 197 officers and 2362 non-coms and men of the outfit who never returned. There is a full-page portrait of Generalfeldmarschall Wilhelm List in a white uniform wearing his Knights Cross of the Iron Cross at the front of the book, followed by many PK photographs of the battle for the Balkans.
An excellent text explains the campaign and documents the hundreds of thousands of prisoners of war taken by the Gebirgsjäger (Mountain Troops) and Fallschirmjäger (paratroopers) of the German 12th Army.
Included is also a large 20-1/2" x 13-1/2" colorful map of the war theater from Rumania to Crete.
A short Epilogue in the rear mentions that the book was the first German book ever printed in Athens and was completed only with great difficulty, owing to inadequate facilities, material and workers in Athens. It also mentions that the book would not be available in bookstores.
