    Description

    For your consideration: a solid " T " iron-pontiled Twitchell Superior Mineral Water soda bottle from Philadelphia, PA. This mold precedes the embossed hollow block letter " T " examples. It was blown in green glass batch into a two-part private mold and finished with an applied Twitchel Patent lip in the early 1850's manufacturing era. This was recovered in a recent Philadelphia privy excavation. It is in very good condition with no damage at all. It shows hardly any use wear and very light interior patchy haze. The exterior shows a wonderful polychromatic surface. The iron-pontil shows with no residue as a rough raised ring and slight push up inside the already dimpled base. The bottle is structurally perfect and displays great. Would clean up further if one so desired. It measures: 7 7/16" x 2 5/8".
