Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB set of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Flugbucher (Flight Books), as used by various fighter and bomber pilots! This specific log book came from the estate of Major Kai Schmidt!
Used to correctly document all flights and missions, this log book set contains a HUGE amount of flights, totaling 2583, with missions using the Do23, Ju52, Fw44, Fw56, Fw58, He45, He46, He70, He72, He79, Kl 25, Kl35, W33, W34, Ar66 Go145, and Bu131!
Born in Apenra, Denmark, Kai Schmidtwas in a training school for fighter pilots in Schleissheim near Munchen. He worked for Lufthansa, then as a Flying Instructor for the Air Ministry and finally, when war broke out posted to the secret "Gartenfeld Squadron" as a pilot.
During the late war period, when the Abwehr fell under a cloud of mistrust, the prestige of the squadron suffered through its association with the intelligence arm. Captain Karl Edmund Gartenfeld, a specialist in long-range reconnaissance and navigation and in inserting agents behind enemy lines, formed his own new unit in the summer of 1942. By 1944 his squadron, the 2nd Test Formation, had grown to a group of four squadrons.
Made of heavy paper, and covering 2 years, between May 28, 1936, and June 2, 1938, this log book set is in AMAZING used condition.
As mentioned, this logbook belonged to Major Kai Schmidt, who was posted to the Gartenfeld Squadron. 100% complete, it is a PERFECT item for any collection or display!

------------------- ABOUT ME -----------------
Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
