Description
General - American Pre-Civil War Era, Early 1850s 7-sided Hassinger & Petterson Blob Top Soda Water out of St. Louis, Missouri. Hand blown, hand applied rounded taper finish, and a deeply indented, crude, clearly identifiable, dark iron pontil base with all of the pontil rod residue present. BIMALThis Soda Water bottler was listed in the 1853-1854 St. Louis Business Directory as follows; "Hassinger & Petterson, soda water manufacturers, cor. 15th & walnut".
Embossing and Sides - "HASSINGER", in arch form, then "& PETTERSON - 15TH STREET - ST. LOUIS", in three straight lines. Sides orientation are as follows; Front has 2 sides from top to shoulder only, and bottom half of front is the typical rounded style. Back has 5 full, top to bottom sides.
Glassworks - Unknown
Color - True Aqua with equal parts of Blue and Green.
Size - 7-3/8" Tall and 2-5/8" at the base. Glass is heavy and sturdy, weighing nearly a pound and coming in at 15.8 ounces.
Circa - 1853 - 1854.
Age - Approx. 168 years old.
